Care-Leavers Needs Assessment 2011

This document contains a comprehensive analysis of the needs of young people leaving care. The analysis will assist Islington Council and its partners to consider how it might effectively respond to the needs of its diverse care leaving population and further improve outcomes for this group.

Islington Online Citizens Panel

Do you have something to say about living in Islington?  Tell us what you think by joining Islington’s new Online Citizens' Panel

The Islington Citizens' Panel has become the Islington Online Citizens' Panel.  The panel is made up of Islington residents who have agreed to be consulted by the council about local issues and services.

To consult the panel, the council sends out a very short online questionnaire about once every 6 weeks.  Each one is focussed on an issue that affects local people, from managing your money to having a good time in Islington.  Surveys are quick and easy to complete, taking no more than 5 minutes to respond.  The Council is hoping to build up a large pool of residents who are willing to tell us what they think about a wide range of topics.

Closing the Gap: Tackling Health Inequalities in Islington 2010-2030

 This first Health Inequalities Strategy for Islington  is designed to be an overarching framework bringing together key strategies and plans already underway to address health inequalties in Islington, together with the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JNSA).

There is a gap between the health of Islington's residents and the national average. The health of the population is improving but not as fast as other areas and there is a considerable variation in health outcomes experienced by people across the borough.

Islington residents experience poor mental and physical health that results in early deaths from cancer and circulatory diseases (heart disease and stroke).

Library Photography Book Collection

The Islington Libraries collection of photography books previously held at the reserve stock at Finsbury Library is being transferred to the Central Library and many of the books are now on public display and can be loaned from the Reference Library at: Central Library, 2nd Floor, 2 Fieldway Crescent, London N5 1PF.

Ward level summary measures of deprivation and the older people's and children's indices

To supplement the published government data from the Indices of Deprivation 2010, GLA Intelligence has produced further measures at ward and borough level for London.

Northumberland Park ward in Haringey and Stonebridge ward in Brent are the only two wards in London that appear in the most deprived ten London wards on every summary measure of the IMD.

Overall, Tower Hamlets has the highest proportions of both children and older people in income deprivation, while Westminster includes the wards with both the highest and lowest proportion of children in income deprivation.

This report provides a summary of demographic and related data for each Greater London Assembly constituency. The profiles are designed to provide an overview of each area by combining data on a range of themes. Each constituency is compared to equivalent statistics for Greater London.

Islington Community Mental Health Profile

New Community Mental Health Profiles for every local authority in England were launched by NEPHO on the 1st of March 2012. They give an overview of mental health risks, prevalence and services at a local, regional and national level, and can be viewed as an interactive tool or a downloadable PDF.
