Islington has a thriving business community where there are more jobs than people yet unemployment and worklessness is high.
In January 2014 Islington Council set up an independent Employment Commission, co-chaired by leading educationalist and entrepreneur Maggie Semple OBE and Cllr Robert Khan, to help tackle this issue and make recommendations on how we can get more residents into work.
Commissioners consulted with employers, job seekers and local organisations to find out about barriers to employment, possible solutions and recommendations on how we can get Islington working.
On Wednesday the 26 November the commissioners published their final report.
