This publication from the London Mayor presents a revised pan-London strategy on violence against women and girls (VAWG), following on from the 2010 ‘The way forward’ strategy which aimed to fulfil five objectives to: allow London to take a global lead to prevent and eliminate VAWG; improve access to support; address health, social and economic consequences of violence; protect women and girls at risk; and get tough with perpetrators. Sets out the key national developments and progress in London over the last four years. Looks in detail at how each of the five objectives will be met, focusing on priorities over the next three years. Discusses how the strategy’s performance will be measured and made accountable. Highlights the commitment of the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) to reducing the prevalence of VAWG over time and improving the confidence of victims, by working with partners to: focus on prevention and create a culture based on equal rights and respect; hold perpetrators of VAWG to account; and ensure that women and girls have access to protection, justice and support to rebuild their lives.
